When Toronto-based GestureTek, Inc. - the pioneer and world leader in gesture-recognition technology and systems for interactive surfaces, signs, advertising displays, and games (Sony Playstation, Microsoft XBox) - decided to take its patented technology to mobiles phones, it turned to IQ4M.
Carl established the company’s mobile division, GestureTek Mobile, and served as it's first VP and GM. GestureTek Mobile launched EyeMobile™ Engine, the world’s first camera driven gesture-controlled user interface for mobile devices (to navigate menus, maps, photos, games and other applications simply by tilting the phone in various directions).
GestureTek Mobile closed a landmark deal to provide EyeMobile Engine to NTT DoCoMo under a master license agreement and concurrently secured a strategic investment from DoCoMo Capital. Today, over 100 EyeMobile Engine games have been launched in Japan.
GestureTek Mobile launched EyeMobile Engine with Qualcomm for BREW and co-launched with TiltaWorld LLC and Super Happy Fun Fun, Inc. 3D Tilt-a-World, the world’s first and award winning 3D mobile game that utilizes the camera to enable motion controlled gaming.
Games powered by the EyeMobile Engine have also been showcased in pre-eminent awards programs. The technology was recognized at the BREW 2006 Game Developer Awards as the “Best Up and Coming Application”, at the 2006 International Mobile Gaming Awards, and was the IGN Editors Choice Award for Best Mobile Game, Best Puzzle Game and Most Innovative Design. Most recently, GestureTek’s EyeMobile Engine was selected as Best Mobile Entertainment Application at LAPTOP Magazine’s 2007 ‘Best of CTIA Wireless I.T. & Entertainment Awards’.
When Tokyo-based Acrodea, Inc. - the leader in advanced mobile user interfaces throughout Japan - wanted to establish a North American subsidiary, it turned to IQ4M.
IQ4M worked with Acrodea’s Japan team to establish its US operations in Los Angeles - seamlessly bridging language and cultural barriers, and bringing the operations online in record time. All of this while Acrodea was navigating through the rigorous routine of a successful IPO on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
With years of experience in setting up US subsidiaries for foreign national corporations, IQ4M provided full due diligence for the Japan executive team. IQ4M presented and assisted with implementing incorporation of the new subsidiary - from complex issues of immigration for executive staff down to site location and office facilities. For Acrodea Japan, what would have been a timely and costly process became a low-risk and highly accelerated and succesful project.
IQ4M provided business development and sales services for the newly established subsidiary. In June of 2008 Acrodea announced with SonyEricsson a master license agreement.
Wildsight Productions, Inc., since 1991, has focused on wildlife-related media, including shows for public television, Discovery Channel’s Animal Planet, and Canal Plus. WildSight is owned and operated by Deborah Rivel and Robert Goodale - co-founder of UltraStar Entertainment LLC with David Bowie in 1998, sold in 2006 to LiveNation.
WildTones.com provides premium nature-oriented content for mobile phones.
When WildTones wanted to expand distribution of its acclaimed mobile content beyond it's own online store, it turned to IQ4M. In less than half the customary time to land branded content licensing and distribution deals with major content retailers, IQ4M brought WildTones into WalMart and Best Buy.
